As soon as that worker walked in the door he said, "yeah, we took the molding, but it's lost, you're never gonna see it again." The doors were absolutely beautiful, but they didn't make them. Part of the electrical DID have to be redone to install the one cabinet that we do have. Now we are having some remodeling done to a room directly beneath where the bathroom work was done by LaPelusa. When they opened up the ceiling, they found that the plumbing that LaPelusa had done was leaking inside the ceiling. And, some sort of vent pipe ( I'm not a plumber) was just cut off and open!!!

They were concerned about getting the door off so they could paint a portion that they could not get to without removing it. I called Brian and they were happy to come by and remove the door during this process. In the end, the painting company had people doing the job that had experience with this and so I was able to call Brian and let him know it was not necessary for him to come by.
Services Offered
Good communication with Brian LaPelusa, one of the owners/principals. That was key, getting his personal attention. They were very professional, they cleaned everything, and they communicated along the way.

Checkbook’s undercover shoppers asked contractors to bid on three different projects. Company-to-company price differences were striking. For the largest of the jobs, quotes ranged from $190,000 to $321,000—a difference of more than $130,000.

Their price was a bit higher, but they also were putting in a high quality product . Once we accepted their bid, we provided them with a deposit and a signed contract. They ordered the windows/door and called me well within the timeframe they were expecting to receive it.

Everything was presented in a very professional way, providing me with "what to expect" and potential pitfalls that have been encountered in the past with other projects. I felt very ready to start the process and at no point in time, did I feel like I was not prepared, rushed to do something, etc. The fact that all major decisions had to be made before we started the job and all products ordered really made for an easy project. Celebrating 50 years of business in Chicagoland!
Window Installers & Repair
All woodworking, extended wall near sliding glass door for safety, etc. I have used them repeatedly over the years for a variety of things and they are fantastic. They are very prompt and they are extremely neat and polite. They explain everything very clearly and make sure that I am in agreement before they proceed with anything, and then they follow up. The price is a little on the high side but I get what I pay for with that one because of the quality of the service and the lifetime guarantee on the supplies if we buy it through them.
Contractor very communicative and accommodating, though, and made every effort to finish the work to our satisfaction. I was so impressed with their attention to detail, and with the respect they had for my property, which really is highly important to me. I had many workers here at the same time they were here, so I can actually compare.
Analyzing permits over the last 4 years shows that Lapelusa Home Improvement, Inc mostly works on kitchen remodel and multi-room remodel projects. Our building permit records indicate that Lapelusa Home Improvement, Inc has worked on at least 9 projects over the past 3 years. They took out dining room windows and put in doors. Brian and the crew he sent out to replace our front door were great, and I'd recommend them to anyone else looking for similar work. Brian worked with me to find a solution to a tough problem and then had the project expertly installed.
La Pelusa replaced front exterior door and framing, a full wall window with trim and replaced a set of French exterior patio doors for a sliding glass door. Major remodeling and expansion of small ranch including full kitchen, family room. Brian was very conscientious about his crew cleaning up every day and minimizing the impact on the neighbors. Our neighbors commented favorably to us about his crew. He always kept us abreast of the daily progress, was very helpful in guiding us to make decisions and was very quick to resolve any concerns. His attention to detail shows in the high quality of work.

I was impressed that at least one of the workmen who did our job two years ago was still working for the company and remembered our project. (All of the men work for LaPelusa, they are not subcontractors.) The windows look beautiful and we couldn't be happier.
